"Heartbound Ministries: Art from the Inside” exhibits the significant, often overlooked talent of artists who are currently imprisoned. Approximately 60 works of art are on view, representing a wide range of artistic styles and mediums, including sculptures and displays crafted from objects found around the prison. The sale of these works benefits Heartbound’s Little Readers Book Club, which allows children of incarcerated parents to see and hear their parent reading to them via DVD. “Art from the Inside” is the only annual exhibition of art by prisoners in the state of Georgia.

As one of the newest self guided tours in Forsyth, this African American Heritage Guide takes you through a journey of African American history throughout Monroe County. This self-guided tour is meant to be a starting point in exploring the journey of African Americans in our community. It contains some brief biographical information on those who shaped our history; a timeline critical to putting events into context; and a brief driving tour to link people and places. Rock City's Rocktober Fest

Rock City’s Rocktoberfest runs Saturdays and Sundays in October (Oct. 2 through Oct.31), from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Get in touch with Rock City’s German heritage during the 15th annual Rocktoberfest. Rock City Square will be transformed for a celebration of harvests and fall foliage. This premiere autumn festival includes German music with live performances by the Wurstbrats and Musik Miesters. Other offerings returning this year are the Rock City Raptors birds of prey shows. IK The Troll King, Jerry the Mime and Caricature Artist Dennis Hart! Step into German culture as we celebrate and honor our founder Frieda Utermoehlen Carter’s heritage, with German food and fun for the whole family. Farm Animal Fun Day

Come visit and pet some furry friends here on the Farm as we continue our journey to "bring the farm to life" and keep the American agricultural experience alive. Pricing: Animal encounters are included with site admission. Your site admission also includes the Mountain Farm Celebration.

Mountain Farm Celebration at Hardman Farm

10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Enjoy the feel of an old-fashioned country fair set in the beautiful Nacoochee Valley, surrounded by the colors of the season. Hands-on pioneer skills exhibits, traditional craft vendors, local authors and historians, and apple cider from a hand-cranked press are just a few of the experiences you can expect. Learn to make candles, butter, and wash with a wash board. Try your luck in the potato sack race or old fashioned games. Enjoy lunch and treats as you listen to mountain music with your neighbors. The Nichols-Hunnicutt-Hardman Mansion will be open for self-guided tours of the first floor. Grounds admission fee: $6 per person. Children under 6 are free.

Piedmont Division Model Train Show

LIVE IN PERSON Piedmont Division of the NMRA presents the Piedmont Division Model Train Show. Saturday Oct. 2, 10-5pm; Sunday Oct. 3, 10-4pm. Watch 6 running model train layouts, 150 vendor tables to browse, White Elephant Sales, raffle layout. Fun for everyone! Adult admission $9; kids 9 and under are free. Plenty of free parking. Downtown Dublin Farmers Market

Located on Madison Street in Downtown Dublin, the Market on Madison is a premier open-air venue with a weekly offering of local and organic produce, as well as artisan foods, farm-raised eggs, and raw honey each Saturday morning 7:30 AM until 12:30 PM from April through October. Patrons will also find a variety of handmade crafts and original art. Over the last eight seasons, Dublin’s farmers market has experienced much growth, noting more than 30 vendors each week and 350 patrons during peak produce season.

Appalachian Jam

North Georgia's mountain music pickers, singers and listeners flock to the Dahlonega Gold Museum State Historic Site for the annual Dahlonega Appalachian Jam. The Appalachian Jam gives traditional mountain music players the chance to get together and celebrate the kind of music that has been performed in the Appalachian Mountains for generations. Musicians are invited to bring their instruments and gather on the historic Public Square to jam. Everyone else should come on down and listen or dance. Bring a chair or stool and stay awhile!
